Monica Johnson is the General Counsel for Bonduelle Fresh Americas, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bonduelle and home of the Ready Pac Foods and Bonduelle brands. The business unit focuses on fresh vegetables, salads and fresh meal solutions for the Americas.
Monica joined Bonduelle Fresh Americas in 2018 and is responsible for providing professional legal advice and representation for all legal, regulatory and government matters affecting the business. As part of her role, she also provides legal advice and support to Bonduelle Americas Long Life (BALL), the business unit based in Canada.
Monica has more than 15 years of experience in a broad range of industries, including foodservice, technology, manufacturing and supply chain/logistics. Prior to joining Bonduelle, Monica was Assistant General Counsel and Assistant Corporate Secretary at Ventura Foods, LLC, a privately held manufacturer and distributor of branded and private-label food products, including dressings, oils, sauces, dips, shortening, margarine, butter blends, mayonnaises and flavor bases. Before Ventura Foods, Monica was Senior Counsel at Western Digital, served as Corporate Counsel of BAX Global and was an associate at the law firm Theodora Oringher and Yoka & Smith.
Monica has also served in the administrations of three California governors, including her most recent service for eight years on the California Board of Optometry as an appointee of Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. As Vice Chair of the State of California Board of Optometry serving in a public capacity, Monica partnered with Board members to protect the public and regulate the profession of Optometry. She developed Board policies, reviewed and analyzed disciplinary matters, and represented the Board in its outreach efforts. Monica also had additional responsibilities on the Legislation & Regulation, Practice & Education, Executive and Consumer Protection Committees.
She received her JD from Southwestern University School of Law and holds a BA in Rhetoric/Communications and Political Science from U.C. Davis.
Monica presently serves on the Board of Directors for the Southern California Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel. She currently lives in Orange County, Calif. with her husband Thomas and their son. She enjoys gardening, cooking, skiing and swimming in her down time.
